The customer complained that the HVAC unit (a package heat pump) was not working and they did not have heat. We arrived and found the low voltage fuse was bad. This indicates a shorted circuit somewhere in the system. We did a search for the short and found the 24 volt coil shorted out at the contactor outside. We replaced the contactor and now the unit is running in heating and cooling mode. The customers house is warm again. The whole heating repair service call took about an hour to diagnose and repair.
Estimated budget: $300
